Improve your communication skills under Northern latitudes

As a guest, you attend Toastmasters sessions for free. 

* Can I visit one or more times without obligation?

You are very welcome to visit as many times as you need to form an opinion about how useful Toastmasters can be to you. 

* Do I have to speak?

You do not have to take the stand to perform a speech. You may however be invited to participate in table topics (impromptu speeches on a given topic) but you can indeed always decline! You may also be asked your opinion about the meeting at the end of it, here again you can kindly decline to comment if you do not feel confident about what you want to say.

Depending on the club, it usually costs about 50 eur to join the first time (for a semester) and then it will be about 30 eur per semester. This fee entitles you to a competent communicator and a competent leader package (various training manuals), plus a subscription to the International Toastmasters magazine. Once you are a member you can plan your prepared speeches with your mentor and the VP Education and have a slot to perform them in public. Being a member of a Finnish cub entitles you to participate in your club’s competitions. 

* Do I have to attend every meeting after I join?

No, you don’t have to but it is indeed advised to regularly attend as each attendance enables a certain amount of training in communications or leadership (there are many roles to be fulfilled to have a Toastmasters meeting run properly). 

*Are their coaches, mentors, teachers available?

Toastmasters is encouraging new members to choose a mentor among the more experienced members of their club. The VP Education shall help you find the mentor of your dreams.
